A free Sunday morning again and I am thinking where to go for breakfast. I have been several time in a German shop and decided to go there again. And later on finishing my whole shitty job putting ALL the images into my blog from ‘Time to Taste’.
Well, but at least I had a great breakfast ahead. And in the middle of al the waitresses a cute waiter…
‘Sawasdee khrub!’ – ‘Sawasdee ka!’, said the waitress who speaks nearly perfect English. ‘I get orange juice, mocca and a croissant with ham and cheese and salad, please!’ – ‘Ha, ha! Sure!’
Today I was lucky anyway. With 50% of the tourists gone from Patong Beach and Phuket anyway, it was a quiet and relaxing day not alone for me but also for the staff of the cafe. The first time I had discovered this restaurant 3 weeks ago when I was driving on Nanai Rd. and looking for a German ‘Biergarten’ but did not find it. But what I found was the ‘CoffeeMania’ cafe.
I had then one croissant with chocolate and one with almonds. Gorgeous! And tried their mocca first time. – Still unbelievable, nice mocca taste with smooth milk foam and always something different painted on the top.
Everything they bring to your table made warm – also the croissant with ham and cheese and salad – and with cutlery. Why they put the cutlery? I have NO idea. But put them aside and just try to eat the croissants with your fingers. Because that is what the French do in their homeland: Use your fingers and when the food was delicious then afterwards lick your fingers.
When I listened through the languages that are spoken at any of the tables in the cafe and look at the people, there are Thai, Malay, Middle East, some Canadian and American – but what astonished me most was – French who made the most of the European tourist or Farang who still live here. And although it is a German cafe Thai and French come here on a regular basis and have a coffee and something sweet to eat.
So, check out ‘CoffeeMania’ in Nanai Rd! I am sure you will lick your fingers afterwards as well!
