Finally this morning I made it to Patong and checked out the old street kitchen where we went all the time when we were on Phuket. I do think even when I got to know Knot, one of the first street kitchen we went to where this perfect kitchen for duck noodles.

The best – at least for me – are the duck noodles. What’s inside are yellow noodles, duck soup, thin slices duck breast, stacked duck blood and then soy sprouts and salad – last two ingredients for your own pleasure to put and make a fresh duck noodles or leave them.

When I drove passed the street kitchen some days ago, everything was closed. Maybe one regular day off now finally or may because there were Muslims and they celebrate then end of Ramadan with their families. Anyway!

When I arrived and had parked my motorbike in front of the street kitchen there already was a friendly ‘Hello!’ from the owner, a lady who does this so many years (the middle one of the picture), she might not remember when she first cocked her first duck in her street kitchen.

Or maybe I am not correct to call this a street kitchen. When I have been there 14 years ago, it was much smaller, people lived in the evening in the room where we eat duck noodles. Now it is much bigger, they had taken over in addition the left room as street kitchen, and when I came this Tuesday the right room – the Original Duck Noodle Street Kitchen, where one of my first articles came from – was freshly painted, new tables and chairs and everything was sunny and clean.

So I found a table and sat down, ordered a coke and enjoyed my perfect dish. And because I have my ‘mobile office’ always with me I checked when I wrote the blog about duck noodles here in the blog.thaikochen.com: And this was end of July 2011. Amazing!

And if you look closely, when we have been – ten years ago? – sitting with to friends there, the new TV was playing some soap opera in Thai exactly where we have been sitting that years before! So, Michael: Find a very good street kitchen for the time when I will be with you in Bangkok and we talk about business! Otherwise I will kick your lazy butt!
